The
Clarkson College Student Financial Services Department keeps a binder of outside
scholarship opportunities. It is available for viewing and is located on the
Department's front counter. The Clarkson College Student Financial Services
Department has been made aware of several outside scholarship opportunities:
Army ROTC Nurse Scholarship
Army ROTC enables students to complete their degrees at Clarkson College while
training to become officers in the United States Army Nursing Corps. Army ROTC
offers two, three and four year scholarships that pay full tuition, a monthly
stipend totaling $4500/yr. and $1200/yr. for books. The NCLEX exam is also
paid. Graduates are guaranteed a full time job starting at $43,000/yr. After four
years, the salary increases to $75,000/yr. Additionally, fully funded graduate
opportunities are available after graduation.

Ford Mi Fuerza Program - from
$500-$5000
The Ford
Motor Company Fund's, Mi Fierza Program, supports Hispanic undergraduate
students studying any discipline nationwide. Applicant must be Hispanic or of
Hispanic descent, must be a U.S. citizen, must be studying at an accredited
college or university in the U.S. or Puerto Rico for the 2008-2009 academic
year, must be (or plan to be) enrolled full-time as an undergraduate student
for the 2008-2009 academic year, must have earned and maintain a cumulative
grade point average of no less than 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, and must demonstrate
financial need. Preference is given to previous Ford PAS and Henry Ford Academy
students.

Heartland Foundation Scholarships
Several
scholarships are available from the Heartland Foundation, but applicants must
reside in one of the following counties:

DeKalb, Gentry, Grundy, Harrison, Holt, Livingston, Mercer, Nodaway, Platte,
Ray, or Worth

Decatur, Fremont, Page, Ringgold, or Taylor
·
Kansas:
Atchison, Brown, Doniphan, or Nemaha
·
Nebraska: Nemaha or Richardson

Hospital Education and Research
Foundation - up to $6000
Available
through the Iowa Hospital Education and Research Foundation, a subsidiary of
the Iowa Hospital Association, are scholarships designed to fill specific Iowa
hospital workforce shortage needs. Scholarships of up to $6000 ($3000 per year
for a maximum of two years) are available to the appropriate candidates. In
2007, twenty-nine $3000 scholarships were awarded.

John Gyles Education Awards - up
to $3000
John
Gyles Education Awards are available to students in both Canada and the United
States. Those selected will receive up to $3000. Applicants must be enrolled
full-time at (or accepted to) a college or university program as an undergraduate
or graduate student. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.7 on a scale of
4.0 and must also have citizenship in either the United States or Canada. Additional
criteria are listed on the application form.
Sallie Mae Fund: American Dream
Scholarship Program - from $500-$5000
Established
in partnership with the United Negro College Fund, the American Dream
Scholarship Program is open to African-Americans with financial need.
Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents, with a minimum 2.5
grade point average (on a 4.0 scale), who meet Pell Grant eligibility criteria,
and are enrolled full time at approved, accredited, undergraduate institutions.
Scholarships range from $500 to $5,000.
This
program is now open. The application deadline is April 15, 2008. Additional information and application for this

Sallie Mae Fund: First in My
Family Scholarship Program - from $500-$5000
The First
in My Family Scholarship Program, developed in partnership with the Hispanic
College Fund, offers scholarships to Hispanic-American students who are the
first in their family to attend college and have financial need. The program is
open to Hispanic Americans who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents
enrolled as full time undergraduate students at approved, accredited
institutions. Students must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 (on a 4.0
scale). Scholarships range from $500 to $5,000.
This
program is now open. The application deadline is April 15, 2008. Additional information and application for this

Tylenol Scholarship - $1000 or
$5000
Scholarships
will be granted to 170 students in amounts of $1,000 and $5,000. Applicants will be judged on leadership
qualities and academic performance.
