•   DATABASE: How do I obtain actual journal articles that I find listed in a bibliography or in database search results?
If the full text of an article is not available from an online database or from the library, it can be requested through interlibrary loan. For more information on interlibrary loans, see INTERLIBRARY LOAN FAQs that follow.

•   DATABASE: Which of the databases contain full-text articles?
EBSCO Health Source, ProQuest Nursing & Allied Health, Wilson OmniFile and eLibrary are largely full-text databases. CINAHL contains some limited full-text.

•   DATABASE: Does the library have an online catalog that I can access via the Internet?
Yes, our online catalog is called SydneyPlus and the link can be found on the alphabetical list of databases. To search for these items, click on the Public Access button. To renew items, login using your unique student ID number (no password is required).

•   INTERLIBRARY LOAN: What items can I request through interlibrary loan?
Most journal articles and books are available from other libraries through ILL. Due to lending policies of most libraries, audiotapes, videotapes and CDs are not usually available through ILL.

•   INTERLIBRARY LOAN: How much does it cost to get an interlibrary loan?
The cost to you for obtaining materials from another library is usually $1, but can be as much as $15 (more if rush service is requested). Anyone requesting a loan should stipulate a "maximum cost" on the ILL form. If time is an issue, it is wise to indicate a $12 or $15 minimum. This is because library staff always attempt to obtain the most inexpensive loan possible, whether you indicate $1 maximum or not. If you indicate a $1 maximum, we have to get in touch with you via email before requesting a loan that costs more.

•   INTERLIBRARY LOAN: How long will it take to get an interlibrary loan?
Clarkson College always attempts to obtain an interlibrary loan in the shortest time possible. However, due to shipping delays, hard to find items or large numbers of ILL requests, it may take two weeks to receive an ILL. Articles received via e-mail tend to be much faster. However, it's always a good idea to submit your ILL requests as soon as possible.

•   INTERLIBRARY LOAN: Can I request rush delivery?
Rush services are sometimes available, but fees are usually applied to these requests. Rush fees may range from $5-$20 and are added to the usual cost of the article. Although some items may be obtained the same day, a 24-hour turnaround should be allowed for rush items. Rush services are only available Monday–Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

•   INTERLIBRARY LOAN: How do I request an interlibrary loan?
Contact a library staff member in person, via e-mail or by phone (402.552.3387). Please be sure to include all citation information (title, author, volume, issues, page numbers, etc.), a maximum cost and date needed.

•   INTERLIBRARY LOAN: How do I receive an interlibrary loan?
As soon as Clarkson Library receives the ILL, you will be notified by phone or e-mail. The ILL can also be picked up at the Library Circulation Desk. We mail ILL requests to distance students. ILLs can be faxed for an additional fee.
