Testing Center and Scheduling Guidelines

Testing Center Rules

·         Cell phones must be turned off and put away at all times during testing.

·         Coats and backpacks must be hung up or set under the table during testing.

·         Due to liability issues and respect for those testing, the Testing Center cannot allow guests, visitors, or family member(s) to be in the center at any time.

·         The Testing Center must be quiet at all times.

Student Responsibility

·         Complete the Test Proctor Agreement/Scholastic Honesty Statement Form, on page 22 of the Online Education Manual, and submit it to the Coordinator of Online Education well in advance of making test arrangements.

·         Students must schedule for their test at least 24 hours in advance and provide the details listed under Scheduling Procedure. Students are encouraged to schedule 1-2 weeks in advance if possible.

·         Students must confirm test availability with their instructor if requesting a date other than test scheduled dates or when arranging for a make-up test.

·         Students must notify the Testing Center Proctor, if they are going to be over 15 minutes late.

·         Students must supply necessary testing tools other than scratch paper and calculator, which are available.

·         Test must be completed prior to the Testing Center's scheduled closing time.

·         Students must contact the Testing Center Proctor if they cannot make their appointment. If a student misses more than 2 scheduled test appointments without proper notification, they may no longer be able to use the Testing Center.

·         Scheduling questions for either testing site should be directed to the Testing Center Coordinator.

·         Online Education questions should be directed to Linda Nieto, Coordinator of Online Education, at nieto@clarksoncollege.edu or 402.552.3039.

·         Any questions regarding your test should be directed to the instructor.

·         Accommodations: Arrangements must be made in advance with your instructor, if you require an exam scribe, exam reader, special environment, additional aids, wheelchair accessible computer, and/or extended time in order to complete your test.

·         Please Note: E-mail exam appointment requests must be received by 2:00 p.m. with a confirmation returned in order to be scheduled for the following day. Any test requests for a Monday testing must be sent by 12:00 p.m. on the previous Friday with a confirmation back as no phone calls or e-mails will be returned after business hours or on weekends.

·         All Students, faculty or staff who use the Testing Center as their proctor, must show a PICTURE ID for identification to the proctor before they will be allowed to test!  A one-time-only excused absence is allowed.

Test Proctor Responsibility

·         Proctor will:

o        be a professional staff member of Clarkson College.

o        check the Testing Center schedule the morning of their designated day.

o        gather daily tests prior to student taking the test.

o        arrive at the Testing Center on time for scheduled test time.

o        maintain a quiet atmosphere while student tests. (The Success Center satellite location will make an effort to keep noise to a minimum; however, this site is also used by students not testing.

·         Proctor may document students who arrive late, cancel or miss appointments without proper notification.

·         If the proctor CANNOT cover their assigned time, it is their responsibility to find a substitute and communicate that change to the Testing Center Proctor.

·         Proctor has 24 hours to deliver completed tests to the instructor. In most cases, tests will be delivered to the Instructor at the end of the day it was administered.

Instructor Responsibility

·         Online course Instructors are being asked to complete the electronic version of the Proctored Test Information form at the beginning of the semester. The form is located on the N Drive in a folder named Testing Center. A web based form is being explored.

·         Accommodations: In cooperation with the Accommodations Committee, the Testing Center will schedule tests for students requiring special services. Please contact the Accommodations Committee for their review procedure in advance of students scheduling tests. Special services to students approved may include exam scribe, exam reader, special environment, handicapped accessible computer, additional aids, and/or extended time in order to complete their test.

·         Instructor may send a written test electronically to the Testing Center Coordinator, at the coordinator's discretion, who would then be responsible for printing a copy of the test and temporarily storing the test file in a secure drive. Instructions should accompany the test via e-mail message, or cover sheet.

·         Instructor should supply enough written test copies when an entire class will test at the Center unless other arrangements have been made. They can also send an electronic version as a backup for the Testing Center Coordinator, who will save it in a secure space.

·         Instructor must include:

o        instructor name, course name, student's name, chapter title/number(s), test/quiz number on written or make-up test.

o        special instructions (open/closed book, calculator permission, time allowed, etc.) on written or make-up test.  The Testing Center cannot be responsible for noting test instructions on multiple tests.

·         It is the instructor's responsibility to:

o        assure the Testing Center has a student's test prior to their scheduled test date.

o        provide the password, if applicable, for computerized tests.

o        pick up all completed tests from the Testing Center if needed prior to 24 hour delivery time. In most cases, tests will be delivered to the Instructor at the end of the day it was administered.
