Meet Libbi Hall

BSN student

Hometown: Louisville, NE

Why did you choose Clarkson College?

I like the small community feeling that Clarkson College has to offer. Clarkson College allows me to establish a personal connection with the instructors and other classmates.

Why did you choose your major?

I have always enjoyed helping people and would like to help make a difference in people's lives.

What is the best part of living on campus?

Convenience! Not having to worry about driving to campus is nice, especially during poor weather conditions. Living on campus also gives me and others an opportunity to go to school and make lifelong friendships.

What would you like to accomplish in the residence hall this year?

I want establish a setting where the residents can feel comfortable calling Clarkson College their home, get acquainted to one another, build lifelong friendships and be in a fun and safe environment.

What has been your favorite moment of being an RA?

This will be my first time being a RA, so I can't answer the question at this time but I am very excited to see what lies ahead.

Meet Rachelle Samp

BSN student

Hometown: Broken Bow, NE

Why did you choose Clarkson College?

As I was debating where I should start my BSN degree, Clarkson College was one of my choices. After numerous accounts of talking with the Admissions Coordinator about what this small community can offer, I decided that the College was the best place for me. Truthfully, I took a leap of faith when I first stepped foot on campus during the beginning week of classes. Since then, I have so many wonderful stories and memories that I wouldn't have experienced if I was not at Clarkson College.

Why did you choose your major?

Nursing, in general, is in my family history. Growing up, I was taught to take care of my siblings and cousins. Therefore, I love being challenged each day of clinical when I take on the responsibility of caring for new patients.

What is the best part of living on campus?

I love having a residence life community of friends to talk and hang out with. Plus as a Resident Advisor (RA), I'm able to use my creative mind to plan activities and numerous other events to gain new friends. To be honest, I struggle with being on time. So I am able to leave my apartment and in less than five minutes arrive for my classes on time.

What would you like to accomplish in the residence hall this year?

As for this year, our residence life team has so many wonderful goals and ideas we want to accomplish.  Providing opportunities for leadership is very important to our team as we start new programs within our community.  In addition, we want to promote a fun, positive and inviting Residence Hall environment for this year's residents. Lastly, a personal goal would be to provide a warm and friendly apartment that is full of baked goodies for all of those homesick students.

What has been your favorite moment of being an RA?

This year has been full of wonderful memories and events. My favorite moments have been when I invited all the residents over to my room. My most memorable one was during my Upside Down Ice Cream Crawl floor event. I loved how most residents responded to my request of placing ice cream toppings in their apartments so other residents could actually come in and talk before getting their toppings. For example, I loved how Alison and Erin placed their toppings all the way into their living room by the TV because it invited people to come in and see their apartment. This made me laugh!

Meet Amie Schlautman

RT/MI

Hometown: Howells, NE

Why did you choose Clarkson College?

I chose Clarkson because of the small class sizes, the friendly people, and the great programs they provide.

Why did you choose your major?

After doing some job shadowing in radiology, I knew that it was the area of health care I wanted to major in. I really like the fact that I will be doing something different every day and I like all of the new technology.

What is the best part of living on campus?

Living on campus is very convenient because it only takes me a few minutes to walk to class. I also like meeting everyone in the dorms and participating on on-campus activities.

What would you like to accomplish in the residence hall this year?

This year, I would like to get the residents more involved in activities on campus and also provide them with opportunities to get off campus and do some fun things around Omaha.

What has been your favorite moment of being an RA?

So far, I have enjoyed brainstorming ideas for activities and decorations and I look forward to getting to know my residents better!
