Meet Libbi Hall

BSN student

Hometown: Louisville, Neb.

Why did you choose Clarkson College?

I like the small community feeling that Clarkson College has to offer. Clarkson College allows me to establish a personal connection with the instructors and other classmates.

Why did you choose your major?

I have always enjoyed helping people and would like to help make a difference in people's lives.

What is the best part of living on campus?

Convenience! Not having to worry about driving to campus is nice, especially during poor weather conditions. Living on campus also gives me and others an opportunity to go to school and make lifelong friendships.

What would you like to accomplish in the Residence Hall this year?

I want establish a setting where the residents can feel comfortable calling Clarkson College their home, get acquainted to one another, build lifelong friendships and be in a fun and safe environment.

What has been your favorite moment of being a RA?

My favorite part about being a Resident Advisor is planning activities for the residents throughout the school year. I love participating in events that help students to come together as a community while having fun and taking a much-needed break. I have learned a lot from the event planning process - not to mention how much it helps the RA team grow. I also really enjoy being part of a close-knit team as a RA. We strive to better the Clarkson College Resident Hall environment.

Meet Alesa Paulsen

BSN student

Hometown: Arapahoe, Neb.

Why did you choose Clarkson College?

I was looking at several nursing schools throughout Nebraska, and Clarkson College had all of the things I was looking for. The on-campus living is great; I can walk to work and school. We have access to all of the facilities at the Med Center, including the automated dummies in the Sorrell Center, the cadaver lab and the gym at the Student Life Center.

Why did you choose your major?

I have always wanted to do something in the health care field. When I was a senior in high school, I went to a health science fair in Chadron where I was introduced to many careers in health care. I fell in love with nursing because I can do anything ranging from pediatrics to surgery.

What is the best part of living on campus?

I never have to drive to school and fight for parking spaces. It takes less than five minutes to get to class and work at the Med Center. I have made friends with my roommates, which is great because we can study together and keep one another on task. I always feel safe because the campus is well lit and monitored by security 24 hours a day.

What would you like to accomplish in the residence hall this year?

I would like to create a community atmosphere not only on the floor where I reside, but also for the entire Residence Hall. I hope to find an activity that everyone likes that could become an annual tradition.

What has been your favorite moment of being a RA?

Since this is the first time I've been a RA, I would have to say my favorite moment so far was finding out that I was selected as a RA - but I'm sure there will be many more favorite moments to come!

Meet Mandy Riedell

BSN student

Hometown: Lake View, Iowa

Why did you choose Clarkson College?

I chose Clarkson College because it has a great nursing program, the people are friendly and the size of the College is perfect for me. I love the city life but having grown up in a small town I am used to the small school atmosphere, so I feel a little more at home here.

Why did you choose your major?

Nursing runs in my family. I grew up listening to my grandma, my aunts, and my mom (all nurses) telling story after story about nursing and its endless opportunities, so from the time I was very little, I've always wanted to be a nurse and help others!

What is the best part of living on campus?

By living on campus, not only do you get to meet and interact with more of the residents, but you will make friends and memories to last a lifetime. It is also very convenient. You can wake up 15 minutes before class and be there just in time!

What would you like to accomplish in the Residence Hall this year?

I would really like for the residents to take a break from the stressful life of college and endless homework and get more involved in the Residence Hall and campus activities. I also know how scary it can be moving into a new place, so I want to make the residents feel safe and at home here and let them know that there is always someone to talk to!

What has been your favorite moment of being a RA?

I just began my position as a RA, but I am looking forward to getting to know the residents and finding fun, exciting ways for everyone to enjoy the time they spend here at Clarkson College.
