Health Information Management professionals are experts in managing patient health information and medical records, administering computer information systems and coding the diagnosis and procedures for heath care services provided to patients. 

  

This program is designed for individuals with no coding experience. After completion of this 22 semester-hour program, students will be qualified for entry-level positions in health-related business such as billing clerks or patient access representatives. A Clarkson College Certificate will be awarded at the completion of 22 semester hours.

Start by completing the HIM Foundation courses needed to prepare for a job in a physicians office. Next, work toward an HIM Certificate in preparation for advancement in your career. Finally, earn an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management by completing the required courses and be eligible to take a national certification exam.
