Admission
Requirements for Undergraduate Students
Prerequisite: A copy
of current unencumbered RN licensure is required for admission into the RN to
BSN program.
A Higher Degree of Convenience
In our RN
to BSN program, students may validate 41 nursing credit hours by successfully
completing the RN to BSN transition courses. If you are an RN to BSN student
with two or more years of experience in Nursing Leadership/Management, Public
Health Nursing, or Home Health Nursing, you may elect to challenge out of up to
seven credit hours of 400 level nursing theory and/or clinical courses.
Clarkson
College offers full-time or part-time study options as well as online
education.
Curriculum Requirements
The RN to
BSN curriculum combines theory in general education, support courses, and major
courses. Forty-three semester hours are obtained through either completion of
direct coursework or by validation credit (credit is granted after
demonstration of equivalent knowledge). Validation credit may be granted upon
successful completion of Health Care Science Update courses, standardized
testing or portfolio. Validation credit is only available for classes as
identified.
Nursing and general education
courses completed in associate and baccalaureate degree programs will be
transferred when the coursework is considered comparable. All RN students are
required to complete the Clarkson College Core Curriculum courses as listed in
their specific degree plan.
Credit by examination is also
available for specific general education courses.
In order to complete a Bachelor of
Science in Nursing (BSN) degree at Clarkson College, students must successfully
complete a total of 129 semester hours.
