  How much does the Nurse Aide course cost?
The course fee is $400.00 for both Omaha and Lincoln classes. This includes the textbook and the state written and clinical competency exams.

  Do I need a high school diploma or GED?
No. However, understand that there is a great deal of reading and studying involved with this class. A person needs to maintain an 80% average to pass the course.

  Does Clarkson College offer financial aid?
We do not because it is not a college credit course. However, many community organizations and state back-to-work agencies do offer assistance. Because their requirements differ, it is up to the individual to research what is available for them.

  How long does it take to complete?
Class dates and times vary, it is important to consult a class schedule for details. Omaha classes: Classes do not usually meet every day. Daytime classes take approximately 3-4 weeks to complete. Evening classes take approximately 6-7 weeks to complete. Lincoln classes: Classes do meet Monday thru Friday. Daytime classes take approximately 3-4 weeks to complete. Evening classes in Lincoln take approximately 4-5 weeks to complete.

  What are the prerequisites?
The only requirements to participate are that a person be 16 years of age and be able to speak and understand English.

  Do I need to buy a special uniform for clinical?
No, in Omaha any clean nurses “scrubs” are fine for clinical sessions. In Lincoln, polo shirts and khaki pants are worn for all sessions.

  Where can I work when I am finished?
There are jobs available in nursing homes, assisted living centers, group homes, hospitals, clinics and home health agencies.

  Do you help with job placement?
We can provide you with information regarding The Nebraska Medical Center (University and Clarkson Hospitals) but it is up to you to apply for the jobs you are interested in.

  Can I take the course if I have a criminal history?
We cannot stop you from taking the course, but you may be unemployable as a nurse aide. Most employers do a criminal background check and drug testing as a condition for employment.

  Do I have to go elsewhere to take the state certification tests?
No. Both the state of Nebraska written and clinical competency exams are offered at Clarkson College at the end of each course and are included in the course fees.

  How can I register?
You can register in person at Clarkson College (between 8:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m.) or by phone (with a credit card) or by the mail. Payment in full is due at the time of registration.
