Clarkson College
Receives Service-Learning Grant
Clarkson
College was recently awarded with a service-learning grant by the Midwest
Consortium for Service-Learning in Higher Education. The grant, which runs
through December, will allow the college to coordinate ongoing service-learning
efforts and will help create new opportunities.
"This
grant will provide us with the opportunity to have a part-time director to
coordinate various activities," said Judi Dunn, Dean of Professional
Development. "It will also allow for staff development to train faculty on
utilizing service-learning within their courses."
Clarkson
College is extremely active in the community partnering with others for
service-learning and community service including; Chicano Awareness Center,
Omaha Public School District, Open Door Mission and the AIM Institute just to
name a few. Students, faculty and staff have been very active in
service-learning and community service completing serving over 43 agencies in
the past year.
The grant
is renewable and is a Learn and Serve America Grant from the Corporation for
National Service.
