Institutional Review Board
The Institutional Review Board (IRB) assures the protection of all human subjects in research projects conducted by anyone on the premises of Clarkson College and to research conducted elsewhere by faculty, students, staff, or other representatives of the College in connection with their institutional responsibilities.
In accordance with Health and Human Services Regulations for Protection of Human Subjects, an Institutional Review Board, composed of members from a variety of scientific disciplines as well as community members, assists investigators in the protection of the rights and welfare of human subjects. The IRB also serves to facilitate valuable human subject research as well as protect the investigator and the institution through a comprehensive review process. All human research projects must be reviewed and approved by the IRB prior to initiation and then conducted in full compliance with the IRB guidelines.
Important Reminder
All key personnel involved with the conduct of human subjects research at Clarkson College need to complete the required online Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) in protection of human research subjects. New research protocols or continuing review of on-going projects will not be approved until all key personnel have been trained and certified.
