Doctor of Nursing Practice Program
The Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) course of study is targeted to individuals with a Master's degree in Nursing who are advanced practice registered nurse practitioners, clinical nurse specialists, nurse midwifes or nurse anesthetists.
Offered online, the program prepares DNP graduates to provide the most advanced level of nursing care for individuals and communities, including the direct care of individual patients, management of care for individuals and populations, administration of nursing systems and the development and implementation of health policy. The course sequence focuses heavily on practice that is innovative and evidenced-based, reflecting the application of credible research findings.
The DNP program is 39 credits in length and is completed on a full-time basis. It is expected that students completing the program will attain a minimum of 1,000 clinical hours, which includes incorporation of up to 695 clinical hours from a Master's degree program.
The final requirement of the DNP program consists of a rigorous dissertation and residency experience that demonstrates your ability to translate scientific research into evidence-based, client-centered health care practice.
