The individual has previously been on the Nebraska Medication Aide Registry. Clarkson College will verify registry status as inactive or lapsed. A photo ID is required at time of examinations.
For the assessment, 45 minutes is scheduled individually with a Registered Nurse. Students are verbally asked 20 questions to successfully demonstrate each of the competencies as identified in Title 172 NAC 96, section 005. Students must also successfully demonstrate 10 basic nursing skills related to medication administration. Students are given 5 minutes to review all 10 skills prior to testing.
Students must successfully pass each skill—70 percent required to pass each skill. Some skills may have critical steps that must be demonstrated to pass the skill. If a critical step is not demonstrated accurately, the student does not pass the skill and therefore does not pass the medication aide competency.
