Known for its high caliber and proficiency in online education, the Clarkson College online Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program attracts registered nurses from across the U.S. who are interested in experiencing greater challenges, opportunities and advantages in their nursing careers.

Our rigorous and patient-focused MSN program prepares graduates to function independently and collaboratively in designing, implementing and evaluating complex health care strategies in a variety of advanced-practice nursing roles.

Students in the MSN program choose from four specialties:

Nursing Health Care Administration

Learn to manage other nurses within your unit or department and to serve as a leader in the design, implementation and evaluation of health care delivery systems.
Degree Plan

Nursing Education

Learn to combine clinical practice of medicine and health care with classroom instruction.
Degree Plan

Adult–Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner

Learn to facilitate the diagnosis and management of acute and chronic primary health problems in adult patients.
Degree Plan

Family Nurse Practitioner

Learn to provide health assessments, direct care and health maintenance information and tools to the entire family.
Degree Plan

In your final semester of the MSN program, you will complete a scholarly, evidence-based practice journal article and poster presentation based on the research you conducted in an approved clinical setting. This research project allows you to investigate a question of practical importance by developing and testing an intervention, curriculum or protocol for application within a specific setting.

Although the MSN program is offered entirely online, students enrolled in either of the Nurse Practitioner programs are required to complete minimal on-campus visits. Refer to the MSN Student Handbook for current details. At the completion of the MSN program, students who elected a Nurse Practitioner (NP) specialty will be prepared to sit for the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Program National Certification Examination.
