Basic Infection Control Course co-sponsored with the Nebraska Infection Control Network

 

Day 1 - Infection Control: Overview for All Participants

 

Date: Thursday, Oct. 2, 2008  

Time: Registration: 7:30-7:50 a.m.  Session starts: 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

Registration Fee: $100.00

Location: Storz Pavilion, Clarkson Tower, The Nebraska Medical Center, 42nd St. and Dewey Ave., Omaha, NE

Please note: Storz Pavilion is located inside the Clarkson Tower at The Nebraska Medical Center, The conference is NOT held at Clarkson College or the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC).

 

Purpose

To provide current knowledge and skills necessary for infection control healthcare professionals to function effectively in either the long-term care or small rural hospital setting.

 

Target Audience

Nurses and other healthcare personnel dealing with infection control issues in long-term care or small rural hospitals.

 

Overall Course Objectives

Upon successful completion participants will be able to:

  1. Understand the components of an infection control program.
  2. Identify common nosocomial infections, resistant organisms and problem infections.
  3. Interpret current regulations and standards.
  4. Describe methods of infection control in a variety of healthcare settings.
  5. Discuss methods of surveillance, figure infection rates and analyze data.

Additional Opportunities

Join us for Day 2 - either Long-Term Care or Small Hospital Sessions. Please register for Day 2 separately. It is not required to attend both days.  

 

Nursing Contact Hours Offered: Contact hours will be given separately for each day. Attendance at the entire session each day is required to obtain contact hours. Partial credit will not be provided.

 

Day 1 - 8.0 contact hours awarded

 

Clarkson College is an approved provider of nursing continuing education by the Nebraska Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation. NE06-09C14-27 Iowa provider #345
