Dr. Mae Timmons: A Living Legacy
Gift to Clarkson College...
Becomes that moment when your personal commitment to the Clarkson Tradition of
Caring ensures this heritage continues in the next generation of Clarkson
College students. It becomes a lasting tribute to your appreciation of our
history and encourages others to share in your vision for our future.
This is the theme of the
conversation we recently shared with Dr. Mae Timmons (left), a retired graduate
nursing professor of Clarkson College. She has nurtured, educated and witnessed
generations of nursing students who have demonstrated their commitment to our
values of offering competent and compassionate care and attention to patients,
their families and the community.
Recognizing
this was a heritage that reached a new pinnacle through Dr. Perry's leadership
and personal commitment to students, Timmons has decided to create a living
legacy gift to the Dr.
Patricia Book Perry Faculty of the Year Endowment Fund. With this
arrangement she chose to create a charitable
gift annuity that pays her income for life and ultimately directs the
balance to the College.
In
creating this gift, Timmons expressed her gratitude for the support she had
received as a student:
"I was
extremely thankful for the scholarship I received. It would not have been
available unless alumni and other interested individuals had provided gifts to
the College. Because of that experience, I have understood how important it is
for others to provide gifts so colleges can offer students and faculty
opportunities which aid in their personal and professional goals. I soon
realized that donations and gifts were not only provided by the 'Rich and
Famous.' Instead it became apparent that if every graduate and their family
committed gifts of any value to an institution of their choice, the total would
add up to a significant amount," Timmons said.
We are
grateful that Dr. Timmons chose Clarkson College with a gift that will keep on
giving. This investment represents her commitment to positively impacting the
lives of future students through our faculty. The Dr. Patricia Book Perry
Faculty of the Year will be selected to emulate the personal attention and
active teaching style so many former students attribute to Dr. Perry. It is a
legacy she leaves to the College that will inspire many generations of students
to come.
