Melinda Meinecke:
Presidents Platinum Scholarship Recipient
Melinda Meinecke a Clarkson
College Radiologic Technology student and recipient of the Presidents Platinum
Scholarship explains that she wanted to get into health care and her friend's
mom inspired her to pursue a degree in Radiology.
"My friend's mom suggested it, she worked in a hospital,"
said Meinecke. "My friends and I wanted to get into health care. [Clarkson
College] was closer to my house and it was right when they got the new
dormitories so that was an attraction."
Meinecke, who is from Rockport, Mo., explains
that the dorms were an important part of her decision in attending the College.
"I love the dorms. Everything is so convenient my job is
close by. I have more time to do the things I need to do. I don't have to worry
about traveling very far," Meinecke said.
She is a casual tech at The Nebraska
Medical Center and goes into surgery to take x-rays. Meinecke says that without
the scholarship money would have been tighter.
"I would have had to work a lot more
and focus less on school," Meinecke said. "It's greatly helped the tuition
bills and made paying tuition a lot easier. It's pretty high honors; it's one
of the highest scholarships and make me want to work hard to keep it."
She is happy with the choice she made
to attend Clarkson College.
"I love the teachers here, they're helpful. The
scholarship money is really helpful helping to pay for school expenses,"
Meinecke said. "All of the facilities here are really convenient. I've just
really enjoyed my experience here."
