Sara Unzicker:
Recipient of the President's Platinum Scholarship
From Norfolk, Neb. Unzicker is a
traditional college student pursuing a degree in nursing.
"I came from a pretty small high school. [Clarkson
College] was something I knew I would be comfortable with, a smaller school
with smaller classes," Unzicker said.
Being a recipient of the President's Platinum Scholarship
has meant a lot to Unzicker.
"It
shows some academic achievement because you have to keep a certain grade point
average to keep it," Unzicker said. "It shows that I'm a hard worker. It makes
me work really hard to maintain my GPA so I can keep it."
She was first exposed to nursing by her mom.
"My mom worked at an assisted living facility and
suggested I go into nursing. Helping them do the small things meant a lot to
them," Unzicker said. "I knew pretty young that I wanted to go into [nursing]."
Unzicker points out that she likes Clarkson College
because, "It's more realistic. I like how you get clinical experience when you
start"
