SGA Formal Meeting: January 29, 2008

 

Vice-President called meeting to order at 4:37 P.M.

 

Role Call - Secretary

Present: Christina, Kaitlin, Jennifer, Molly, Amber, Jamie, Alissa, Erica, Sarah, Jill, Julia.

 

Past Minutes - Secretary

          Read and Approved

 

Recognition Book and Bear

          Julia gave the bear to Amber and added a Christmas ornament.

 

OFFICE REPORTS

Christina Pick, Vice-President: Met with Dr. Burgher - interviewed him, he is very excited to be involved, getting ready for meeting

Kaitlin Schrader, Secretary: getting organized, typing minutes, sending reminders, picked up cans last week

Jennifer Krysl, Treasurer: updated budget, reminded everyone to watch their spending

Molly Bisenius, PR Chair: designing office window

 

OLD BUSINESS

 

Student Organization Updates:

·         Alissa (SNA) - had a meeting last Tuesday, speaker was a Donate Life Services nurse, they are going to survey the senior class about the possibility of being able to take a mock NCLEX test

·         Erica (Campus Crusades) - trying to get in touch with them

·         Jamie (PTA) - received dates for their meetings that start in February, first year students will be doing the hand massages for SGA's spa day

·         Jill (Housing) - trying to get in contact with them

·         Christina (MARC) - having an event prior to spring break to give students safety tips for their spring break, will be the week of February 17th

 

Recycling:

·         Make sure you are following the word document not the calendar, pick up by Wednesday and out of office by Sunday

 

What's Up:

·         They are going with the name Clarkson Connection

·         Having a meeting on Thursday February 7th from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the 6th floor board room

·         Christina Pick, Jamie Jensen, Molly Bisenius, and Erica Long will be attending

 

NEW BUSINESS

 

Fund Request (RT):

·         Going to a conference in Atlanta

·         Will cost $600 total for the trip, requesting $400

·         20 students will be going total

·         They will be doing a mock board test while there

·         It will be $20 per student that takes it

·         Approved for $300 in funding for mock boards

·         Will contact the committee president after the meeting

 

BLS Valentine's Cookie Sales:

·         Liz Svatos is going to be selling cookies for a fundraisers

·         Preorders will be taken 1/29, 2/5, and 2/7

·         Pickup orders on 2/12

 

LPN Speaker:

·         Was not here at this meeting, will look for them at next meeting

 

Update on Event/Fundraising Requests (Non-Student Organizations):

·         They still need to fill out the new form

·         Will be used by SGA to keep track of dates/events on a calendar, keep the students from being overwhelmed with stuff

·         Strictly informational

 

Bylaw Revision Proposals:

1.      Propose to add two sections to Section 8 under Vacancies, adding Removal of Officers and Removal of Advisor, see handout

2.      In article 3 Section 2; add the word shall

3.      Under Section 4; change organizations to lowercase and replace that with who in second sentence

4.      In article 7 Section 2 take out "and" and add a slash "/"

5.      In article 9 Section 2 take out the section that includes "in the board room on 6th floor unless otherwise announced and add in regular at the beginning

6.      In Article 8, add leave of absence into section 2

7.      Under Treasurer's duties add a letter E to include the duty to serve on SPC committee as a treasurer

8.      In Article 5 Section 2 Letter C; is email considered a written ballot??

9.      Possibly change the undecided representative to a freshman representative, would appoint at first meeting, would be similar to the housing liaison, would have no voting power but would have a voice

 

Campus Crusades (Sarah):

·         Presented purpose for wanting to become a official organization

·         Want to become more interactive on campus

·         They meet once a week and do off-campus activities once a month

·         SGA voted on make them official and it passed so they are a official student organization and they will be contacted

 

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

 

SPC:

·         Co-chair is Amber Benson

·         She will be able to help out in Jen can't be there

 

SLC:

·         SGA Spa Day: On April 8th from 9 - 1.

·         Need to contact your student organizations to have them set up a interactive booth (give examples) for the event

·         Possibly getting nail techs for simple manicures

·         Will be raffling off either a manicure/pedicure or a 1/2 massage

·         Need to RSVP by March 24th

·         Going to have another Town Hall Meeting either Feb 19th or March 18th around 4 p.m.

·         Will be getting in contact with Katie about which date will work better

 

ANNOUNCEMENTS

·         SPC meeting following next representative meeting

·         Mardi Gras - SAC sponsored, next Tuesday at 5 p.m., free food and t-shirts, decorating masks, beads, and jazz music
