LEMMONS
RECEIVES APTA MINORITY SCHOLARSHIP
Omaha, Neb., April 2, 2008: The American Physical Therapy
Association (APTA) recently announced Kim Lemmons is a recipient of the 2008
Minority Scholarship for Academic Excellence.
The
APTA Minority Scholarship for Academic Excellence is awarded to students in a
minority group, enrolled in their final academic year of an accredited
physical therapist assistant education program, possessing potential for
excellence as a physical therapist assistant, and showing evidence of
contributions in the areas of minority affairs and services and high
scholastic achievement.
"This is the third consecutive year
that a Clarkson College Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) student has won
this award," said Andreia Nebel director of the PTA program at Clarkson
College. "Ms. Lemmons will graduate from Clarkson College this summer and is
deserving of this scholarship."
Lemmons
explained she was shocked when she received notification that she received
the scholarship. Lemmons and Nebel plan to attend the recognition award
ceremony this June in San Antonio, Texas at the annual APTA conference.
Lemmons
is actively involved in professional organizations including the National
Physical Therapist Association, Nebraska Student Special Interest Group and
is president of the Student Physical Therapist Assistant Association at
Clarkson College.
Lemmons,
who plans to graduate in August, said her experience at Clarkson College has
been very good, "The instructors are very knowledgeable and well respected in
the community. They do a very good job of passing their knowledge and
experience on. Because our classes are smaller you get a lot of face time.
The instructors make themselves as available as possible and really do have a
vested interest in your success."
