Academic Travel Abroad

Academic Travel Abroad culminates in an 11- or 12-day immersive experience that offers a student-centered, firsthand look at the history, arts and cultural identity of the country or countries on the itinerary. This adventure includes both an academic course and experiential travel, allowing students, faculty/staff, alumni, and travel companions the opportunity to trace the history of healing arts while also gaining insight into diverse worldviews and perspectives. The itinerary includes a variety of historical, cultural, social and medical excursions, and provides ample free days for self-directed learning and exploration. Many of our ATA travelers return for subsequent trips because of these unique and memorable experiences. Since the program’s inception in 1999, destinations have included Austria, Czech Republic, England, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, Scotland, Spain and Switzerland.

Current offerings include a collaborative December trip that is available to students at Clarkson College, Nebraska Methodist College and Bryan College of Health Sciences, as well as a May trip specific to the Clarkson College community. Students have the opportunity to earn course credit which helps them fulfill graduation requirements in their program of study.
