PTA Dual Option

Clarkson College offers two dual degree options for students enrolled in the Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program. These options are offered to students interested in pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in an alternative area to increase job marketability and salary earning potential in the PTA field. If completing simultaneously, students can earn both their Associate’s degree in PTA and selected Bachelor’s degree in as little as three years.

Bachelor of Science degree in Health Care Business with a major in Management: 139 hrs.

Earning a Bachelor’s degree in Health Care Business with a major in Management will help you develop a distinctive set of leadership and critical thinking skills, as well as a fundamental understanding of finance, management and common business practices in the health care setting. This option is designed for PTAs who seek leadership roles, such as clinic coordinators or supervisors. Students may transfer up to 74 credit hours earned at the Associate’s degree level and have the option to complete this dual degree on a part- or full-time basis.

Bachelor of Science degree in Community Health: 129 hrs.

The Bachelor’s degree in Community Health is applicable for PTA students who have an interest in pursuing leadership roles in health education, work-site wellness, home health agencies, office and clinic management, public health and more. Students may begin taking Community Health courses concurrent with their program coursework. Successfully completed PTA courses will transfer as three of the four concentration areas needed for the Bachelor’s degree, allowing students to complete the dual degree in as little as three years.
