Peer Mentoring Program

Students at Clarkson College can smoothly transition into college life by participating in the Peer Mentoring Program. This program is offered to new, incoming students for their first-year experience.

As a participant of the program, we pair you with a peer mentor selected from the list on your application form. Peer mentors can help familiarize students with the College, the Omaha area, as well as answer any questions or address concerns while taking classes here. Whether you are an on-campus student or a distance student, a peer mentor can connect with you via in-person, Zoom, email or phone. In-person meetings must respect social distancing guidelines during a time of pandemic.

A Typical Session

Your one-on-one peer mentoring sessions are tailored to your individual needs. The subject matter discussed is only as casual or in-depth as you prefer it to be. The length and frequency of sessions are also decided upon between you and your peer mentor.

How to Participate

Participation in the program is voluntary, and can begin at any time during your first year. To sign up, fill out this form. For more general information contact Kitty Cappellano at 402.552.2694 or cappellano@clarksoncollege.edu.

Meet Our Peer Mentors

Hannah Subbert

BSN Student

About me
Hello! My name is Hannah Subbert. I will be starting my second year at Clarkson College. I love being involved on campus and meeting new people. During my first year, I have been able to be a part of the Student Ambassador team while also making it on the Dean's List. In my free time, I love hanging out with friends and family, being outdoors, listening to music and eating ice cream. I started at Clarkson College right out of high school, so I understand how challenging the transition can be. I would love to become friends with you and answer any questions you may have as you start your journey here at Clarkson College. I look forward to meeting you.

Mashaya Dierking

BSN Student

About me
My name is Mashaya Dierking (or Shay – whichever you prefer) and I am in the BSN program here at Clarkson College. I am a transfer student from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln and I am so fortunate to continue my second year furthering a passion of mine! While at Clarkson College, I have had the privilege of making it on the Dean’s List, becoming a Student Ambassador, being Vice President of the Residence Hall Council and being the new recipient of the Gateway to Success Minority Nursing scholarship. Overall, I am sort of like night and day. I love the color yellow and being in the sunshine, but I am also a night owl. I enjoy dancing and jamming out to music, interacting with new people and hanging out with my loved ones. Everyone has their own story, and I would be more than honored to guide or be a person someone can lean on as they continue their own journey!
