APP Student Clinical Placement Process

Students seeking placement with an M.D. or D.O. must communicate placement with the individual physician’s student placement coordinator.

Complete the following steps for your clinical placement site.

  1. All students doing clinicals with CHI must have a placement through My Clinical Exchange (mCE).
    1. Students need to create an account and input a request in mCE.
    2. Student should list as their coordinator.
    3. If the student has confirmation from a preceptor this information needs to be added in the comments section of the request.
    4. CHI will prioritize their employees. Students should indicate if they are employed with CHI.
  2. Once a placement is made in mCE, the student needs to submit their DocuSign.
  3. Clinical Compliance Checklist in mCE.
    1. Complete all items on the checklist, this information can be found in CastleBranch.
    2. Please pay attention to what each item is asking – some items need renewal dates others need date vaccine was administered and some items require documentation.
    3. Drug Screen Requirement – CHI has updated their drug screening policies. If this is your first rotation with CHI and you completed your CastleBranch drug test prior to June 17, 2023, you will need an additional drug screening to meet the new CHI requirements.
      1. To order your drug screening use code CS70dt in CastleBranch. Contact your advisor or the compliance office with questions.
      2. If you are unsure or need clarification on the drug screening requirements, please contact your advisor.
    4. Iowa Mandatory Reporter Training – This is a requirement for everyone at CHI regardless of State.
      1. If you selected no for this requirement in your CastleBranch you will need to request to have the requirement reopened by CastleBranch.
  4. CastleBranch – Students will need to create an onboarding track in CB using the code CS70ob. The cost is $5. Be sure to use the email address that matches your CastleBranch account when ordering so this will sync with your existing account.
