Session Description
The Bureau of Labor and Statistics projects the need for data analysts and statisticians to grow 8% in the next ten years, much faster than the average growth of all occupations. Organizations across nearly every sector—healthcare, business, education, and government—are relying more than ever on data to guide their decisions. Yet, the difference between simply having data and making sense of it lies in understanding statistics. This presentation will explore how statistical analysis transforms raw numbers into meaningful insights that support sound, evidence-based choices.
Participants will learn the foundations of interpreting data accurately, identifying patterns, and avoiding common pitfalls in analysis. Real-world examples from healthcare and my college classroom will illustrate how statistical reasoning can drive improvement and innovation. The session will also introduce basic tools for visualizing data, often the key to explaining difficult subjects. Understanding graphs can empower attendees to interpret reports and studies with greater confidence.
