Bestcolleges.com ranked the Clarkson College MSN program 21st in the nation on the basis of acceptance, retention, graduation and enrollment rates.
Bestcolleges.com school rankings are compiled using the latest information from the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) and College Navigator databases, both of which are maintained by the National Center for Education Statistics. The most recent set of data is for the 2011-12 academic year, though some individual data points reflect the 2012-13 academic year. Only accredited colleges and universities that offer flexible online program options were considered for the ranking.
“The high-caliber MSN program Clarkson College offers demonstrates our commitment to quality nursing care for our community,” said Dean of Nursing Dr. Aubray Orduña. “Our outstanding faculty, the quality of the curricula, and the support students receive through one-on-one advising in the program attest to the fact that this program is in alignment with the College Mission and Values of caring, learning, commitment, integrity and excellence.”
Bestcolleges.com takes the initial list of schools pulled from IPEDS and College Navigator and only includes those with at least two of the following four data points published:
Every school was ranked for each data point, and all data points were weighted equally. Schools that did not have a particular data point available were excluded from that specific ranking to avoid unfairly “punishing” them for not having that information available. These four data points cover the school’s assessment of students, student opinion of the school and student success once enrolled. Schools that excel in all four areas rank the highest in their respective categories.
Clarkson College undergoes an annual review process for all academic programs. The MSN program utilizes that process and reviews professional trends, student feedback and accreditation standards to maintain its quality. “We continually evaluate and update the curriculum based on the feedback from industry leaders, as well as current research,” Dr. Orduña said. “Clarkson College graduates continue to serve as our best referral tools. They attest to the credibility of the program through their professional competency, integrity and excellence.”
