The Institutional Actions Council of the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) granted Clarkson College continued accreditation at its meeting on June 3, 2019, with an Interim Report on Board Governance due Jan. 15, 2020.
The College received the official letter of notification from HLC in June following an accreditation site visit on March 25-27. The institution will maintain its accreditation status for ten years with the next reaffirmation of accreditation occurring in 2028-2029.
For the College, the accreditation process began more than a year before the review visit in March. Faculty, staff and the executive leadership team gathered data, compiled necessary reports and presented their argument to the accrediting body. College community members had the opportunity to attend open forum sessions during the site visit and answer questions from committee members.
The College first earned accreditation from HLC in 1984 and has maintained continued accreditation since that time. HLC accredits degree-granting post-secondary education institutions in 19 states in the North Central region including Nebraska. The organization relies on decision-making bodies as well as peer reviewers to achieve its goal of advancing the quality of higher learning.
