Dr. Jenette Smith Endowed Scholarship
Purpose of the Award
Dr. Jenette Smith joined Clarkson College as an instructor in the Doctor of Healthcare Education and Leadership (Ed.D.) program in 2021. She holds a Doctor in Healthcare Education and Leadership degree from Clarkson College, a certified Diplomate in Lifestyle Medicine (DipACLM) from the American College of Lifestyle Medicine, and a Master of Science degree in Health Education/Studies in Aging from the University of North Texas.
Dr. Smith’s career in health care education includes serving in teaching and leadership positions in higher education, inclusive higher education, and nonprofit organizations serving individuals with disabilities, Alzheimer’s disease, stroke, and the elderly. Dr. Smith has devoted over 30 years to serving as an educator, ally, and advocate for individuals with disabilities, their families, and their caregivers. Through this endowed scholarship, the College will provide at least one scholarship annually to a student(s) selected by our Scholarship Committee, who meet the criteria outlined in this agreement.
Selection Criteria (Academic Year 2022-2023)
To be considered for the Dr. Jenette Smith Endowed Scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Enrolled in the Healthcare Education & Leadership doctoral program
- Exhibited solid past academic achievement
Note: Dr. Jenette Smith does not sit on the Endowed Scholarship Selection Committee.
Nomination Information
Applications for the Dr. Jenette Smith Endowed Scholarship will be accepted online at https://www.clarksoncollege.edu/tuition-financial-aid/financial-aid/types-of-financial-aid/scholarships/endowed-scholarships-application during the annual Endowed Scholarship Application window, with applications closing in early February. After the submission deadline, the Endowed Scholarship Committee will select the most qualified candidates based on scholarship scoring rubric, Essay Questions, GPA, Financial Need, Resume and Grammar & Spelling.
