Degree Overview

The Medical Imaging Informatics certificate is available through Clarkson College, which consists of four courses, all offered online. Upon completing the certificate and meeting the requirements of the qualification requirements of the ABII (https://www.abii.org/Qualification-Requirements.aspx) you will be eligible to sit for the certification exam.  Other certification opportunities include the (https://pacsadmin.org/certification.cfm) offered through PACS Administration Registry and Certification Association (PARCA). These certifications may provide you with a distinct advantage in the workforce.

A PACS consists of four major components: the imaging modalities, such as CT and MRI; a secure network to transmit patient information; work stations for interpreting and reviewing images; and long- and short-term archives to store and retrieve images and reports. This system aims to improve the efficiency, accuracy, usability and reliability of medical imaging services within the health care enterprise.

Classes will be 7.5 weeks in length for the fall and spring semester.  Only MI 453 and MI 454 will the offered in the summer semester. Summer classes will be 6 weeks in length. Students may take one or two classes per semester, but they must be taken in succession.
